Gone are the days when trains used to run on coal and used to consume ample lot of time to reach their destination. The modern era presents travelers with rails which not only excels in comfort but also has a high rate of velocity. They are equipped with all sorts of advanced machinery and safety measures making journeys very enjoyable. 

Here is the list of trains from across the world that has record breaking speed with A class facilities.

 #1  TGV Reseau                


Based on earlier TGV Atlantique, TGV Reseau (TGV R) trains were built between 1992 and 1996 by Alstom. It is the fastest train with a speed limit of 515.3 Km/h. They consist of two power cars and eight carriages with 377 seat capacity. In order to attain high speed, Alstom built the current model with wheels larger than earlier TGV trains so that the vehicle would cover more ground each time the wheel rotates. Also each engine has 25,000 horsepower which is pulled from an overhead electric cable.

CRH380A is one of the four series of Chinese electric trains which has been designed with modern comforts with an operating speed of 487.3 Km/h. The sixteen car train was developed by China South Locomotive & rolling Stock Corporation Limited and at present is manufactured by CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co. Ltd. The train is equipped with SWMB-400/SWTB-400 bolster-less bogies and the nose of the train has a resistance coefficient of less than 0.13.

 #3  Shinkansen               


Also known as “Bullet Train”, Shinkansen is a network of high speed trains in Japan which is managed by four Japan Railways Group companies. The shinkansen is characterized by high frequency, short station intervals, top speed of 446 Km/h, advanced technologies and elevated standard of safety and comfort.

Built by Hyundai Rotem in the second half of 2000s, KTX 2 is a South Korean train with high speed of 352.4 Km/h and is controlled by Korail since March 2009. It is a 2,970 mm width passenger car with automatic couplers, new domestically developed ATP automatic train protection system, 363 seat capacity and many other renovated comforts.

 # THSR 700T              


Derived from the Japanese Shinkansen, THSR 700T is an electric multiple unit trainset from Taiwan. The 335.50 Km/h high speed train was manufactured in Japan and later brought to Taiwan High speed Railway Corporation (THSRC). The car has bogies that of Shikansen, T-shaped and aerodynamically optimised pantographs for reduced noise emission and a number of additional safety features.

 #6   AVE Talgo 350                 


AVE Talgo 350 is a Spanish AVE high velocity train also known as AVE Class 102 or S-102. Using 25 kV 50 Hz electrification systems the train runs at a speed of 330 Km/h. It travels between the Spanish cities of Madrid to Barcelona and Madrid to Valladolid.

Operated by Trenitalia on RFI track, ETR 500 is designed under Ferrovie dello Stato and has a racing speed of 300 Km/h. The recent model of the French train has four 1st class cars, a restaurant car, and six 2nd class cars with a tri current system.

Hogesnelheidslijn 1 or HSL 1 is a Belgian rail which has a velocity of 300 Km/h and connects Brussels with LGV Nord. Powered by 25 kV 50 Hz Ohle railway electrification systems it runs on double track of 1,435 mm width accompanied by other advanced techniques and comforts.

 #10  Transrapid TR-09                


Transrapid TR-09 is a German maglev high speed train which is used for both passenger services and goods transportation and works on Longstator linear motor principal. Manufactured and marketed by transrapid Intl. GmbH & Co. GK. The car not only runs at a pace of 279 mph but also has high standard of safety. Due to the nature of the propulsion system head on collision is impossible for the carriage.
